PENZANCE TENNIS CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS 2011
Penzance's annual Club Championships were contested in the picturesque grounds at Penzance Tennis Club in Penlee Park at the weekend.
This year's tournament organised by Tennis Manager Martin Coates and his coaching team proved to be a great success with a good entry of competitors enjoying some wonderful tennis.
The standard of was excellent and provided great entertainment for all those watching.
The morning started with the juniors Ben Lakeman had a great match winning the U14 Boys Singles but well done to Michael May who has really improved over these last few months. A very entertaining Boys Doubles with brothers Jay and Beau just coming through against two new faces of the championships Joe Davies and Yarin Hirani. Congratulations to Willaim Randall and Ellyn Calveley winning their Mini Tennis Events and well done to Holly Drew and Patrick Toraskar putting up a strong fight for runner up positions producing some wonderful rallies.
In the girls event well done to Imogen Harry winning the U18 Girls Singles. A special mention to Julia Hosken ,Victoria Nash and Hester Luke whose tennis has improved significantly over these last few months.
In the Adult events congratulations must go to Conor Polyblank and Amy Johns for claiming the Mens and Ladies Singles and Doubles titles.
Congratulations to Linda and Gary Randall and Viv and Bryn Heale for some entertaining doubles finals.
Special mentions to many of the new faces that took part this year that have inspired us with some outstanding tennis.
Presentation took place after the finals and a large crowd gathered for the trophy presentation to the winners and the runners up in all the categories.
Martin would like to thank all the players taking part and for all those who came to support the tennis. Also he would like to thank his Coaching Team , Birte Hosken ,Trevor Newborn, Lis Jenkin for their support over the tournament.
